Dr. Girish Rao did his under-graduation at Govt. Dental College Bangalore. Throughout all four of his years at Bangalore University, he achieved the top rank and won two gold medals. After receiving the fifth rank, he enrolled in the post-graduate program in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the government dental college in Madras using the all-India quota. He worked at Kidwai after completing his post-graduation to get experience in oral cancer.
He received two fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Ireland after completing his training in the UK. He worked as the Senior Registrar at the famed St. Barts and Royal London Hospital, the world's oldest hospital, where he obtained knowledge in all facets of faciomaxillary surgery.
In 1999, he returned to India and now works as a consultant.
